Service Opportunities: Taking a commitment is usually the most helpful & rewarding way to get involved in NYCYPAA. If you’re not available to take on a position, it’s still a great idea to attend our meetings as a general member. There will be all sorts of smaller service opportunities you’ll only know about by attending.

How to stand for a position: Each committee meeting, we have elections during new business to fill any empty positions. If you’re interested in taking one on, that’s when you say so. You then have the chance to share a brief service resume and then we vote. Unless more than one person stands for a position, which is unusual, the vote is mostly a formality.

Responsibilities common to every Chair position:

  • Responsible for developing the role of their Co-Chair.
  • May form a subcommittee and should keep the committee informed of discussions and actions taken at these meetings.

Responsibilities common to every Co-chair position:

  • Acquires knowledge of how to carry out the duties of the Chair.
  • In the absence of the Chair, accepts the full duties of the Chair.
  • Carries out various duties assigned by the Chair.
  • If the Chair’s position is vacated, the Co-Chair will immediately rotate into the position of Chair for the remainder of the term.

Available positions: Click on the links below to learn more about each open position. In addition to the responsibilities specific to each commitment, every member with a position is expected to make most of our bimonthly meetings (see our bylaws for details). As a reminder, we meet on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of every month (except only 1st Sundays during the summer, details here). If you have any questions, feel free to email our Secretary.
