NYCYPAA Minutes – 1/18/09

o Minutes from 1/4/09 were read and accepted
o Treasurer – Absent

o Owes Josh $192.12 for hotel reservation
o Owes check to VA and service entities
o Co-Chair - Absent

o All positions are filled for the dance
o No further events meetings before the dance
o Josh is meeting with audio guy before the dance
o Still need to fill speaker holes
o Vanessa is speaking at meeting
o Richie from the Bronx has been asked to speak
o Thinking of asking someone from DC/NOVA
o Outreach – Kathleen
o Outreach trip planned for Wednesday at 8PM to Staten Island Young People
o Meg, Kathleen, Casey and Kristin are planning on going
o Program Director from Staten Island YMCA Counseling Service asked us to help set up YP meeting
 NYCYPAA CPC/PI Chair will respond
o Bid Book – Laura
o Waiting for information from members for the bid book
o Has found secret code to get low price from printing company – sounds sketchy
o Received updated bidding and host committee responsibilities from advisory
o Bid Facilities – Jason
o Started to write an email to hotels
o Was forwarded information from previous chair
o Brooklyn Marriott, Marriott Marquis, NY Hilton are the three big hotels
o We’re hopeful they will have a reasonable hotel rate for next year
o There are a couple of other lodging ideas we can throw in this year as well
o Hope to have contracts by next meeting
o Last year we spent a lot of time looking into alternative options, most of them turned out to not be feasible

o Evan went to SENY Assembly yesterday
o Wants to have 12 Concepts workshop with Never Had a Legal Drink

o Jen and Laura participated this week and worked with pediatricians
o Laura gave a brief report on the experience
o During the program you bring your doctor to a meeting and answer any questions they have
o On the 2nd night you work on a questionnaire with your doctor and help them prepare to work with alcoholics
o Invited them to come to Never Had a Legal drink since it is an open meeting
o February 9 & 11 – Josh and Kathleen are available for those dates
