MINUTES
NYCYPAA Meeting
Sunday, February 1st, 2009
4:00pm – 6:00pm

I. Opening
- Opened with the Serenity Prayer.
- Reading of the Twelve Traditions.

II. Introductions / Roll Call
- Present: Laura, Kristina, Daniel, Jen, Ali, Kathleen, Josh S, Jason, Cory, Sloane, Richard (from SENY), Susan (from SENY), Darren, Casey, Alex, Dean, EJ, Josh, Dan, Stephanie (from Rockland County), Sarah (from Rockland), Melissa (from Rockland), Joel
- Absent with notice: Andrew, Evan
- Absent without notice: Teresa, Lauren, Josh, Jon, Alison

III. Committee Chair Reports
a. Secretary (Cory)
- Minutes from 01/18/09 reviewed and accepted.
b. Treasurer (Ali)
- There will be $2,707.98 in our bank account after dust clears from dance, etc.; total including petty cash is $2856.92. Took in $1914 at door from dance, payed $200 to Joel for DJing. [subtract $300 from total for cash for change at the door.]
- Treasurer’s report accepted.
c. Co-Chair (Teresa)
- Absent; no report.
d. Events (Joel)
- Event was a success.
- We still have a space reserved at OLP in March.
- We shouldn’t do an event in March since there is so much else going on in that month.
- Josh will call the priest at the church and say we don’t want the space for that date, ask if we can get it for another date before ICYPAA.
e. Outreach (Kathleen)
- Went to Staten Island YP meeting, outreached dance. They were nice. It was cool.
- Sounds like NECYPAA outreaching was successful.
- Headcount of people planning on going to EACYPAA
- We’ll host a marathon meeting
- Ali and Laura are speaking at meetings there
f. Bid Package (Laura)
- Mostly things are the same. Sent out email about ICYPAA requirement #1 (committee member info).
- Maybe this year we should have a separate book for the bid table including our by-laws, flyers, etc., instead of putting that stuff in the bid book. Would save us some money and space in the book, but might lessen the chance of people actually reading the info.
g. Bid Facilities (Jason)
- No contracts yet; one price quote from Grand Hyatt: $229/night.
- Jason would like some help talking to people from hotels during business hours.
h. Web (Jon is absent)
- Jon doesn’t think he can do the commitment, at least for the next few months. Cory will do it in lieu of a web chair. (Co-chair MIA?)
i. SENY Liaison (Evan is absent)

j. Inter-Group Liaison (Andrew is absent)
- Next phone answering night is Valentine’s Day.
k. C&TF (Jen)
-People are still needed for meeting in Rikers juvenile wing on Tuesday nights.
l. CPC/PI (Daniel)
-Spoke with Dorothy, found a couple of people to speak somewhere(?).
- Left message for lady from YMCA offering to help them start up a YP meeting.
m. Graphics (Kristina)
- Will make better flyers than the last one.
n. Literature (Alex)
- Alex and Casey spoke about ideas for literature over the coming year, including YP’s stories compilation.
o. Prayer (VACANT)

IV. Announcements
- Prayer Chair and a bunch of Co-chair positions are still open.
- EACYPAA is coming up; workshop 2/15, prom 2/28 (last 2 events before convention).
- SENY coming up in Tarrytown, NY.
- NERAASA coming up. (Still seats on bus! We have rooms rented out!)
- NY Round-up having Valentine’s Day dance

V. 7th Tradition ($)

VI. Old Business
a. 12th Step Project.
- No news yet.
b. ICYPAA Bid Skit.
- Maybe find someone to volunteer to coordinate bid skit
- Cory and Alex are down to do it.
- A new rap is in the works; maybe a skit as well, like the soup nazi idea?

VII. New Business

a. Richard (from SENY) would like us to host Delegate’s Day of Sharing
- It’s in Manhattan on March 7th
- Motion to do it: PASSED.
- Dan volunteered to spearhead it.
b. 12 Concepts Workshop
- A few groups are doing a Concepts workshop in April(?); would we like to participate?
c. ICYPAA Registration Event
- Dan brought up idea of having ICYPAA registration at an event
- We need to have someone from the host committee present; Joel could get one of his Atlanta cronies to come up for an event and set up a registration table.
d. BCR
- We should elect a BCR for this year’s ICYPAA in the near future…
e. Rockland
- Some folks from Rockland County showed up and would like some advice on starting up a YPAA service committee of their own. Some of us volunteered to talk with them after the meeting.

VIII. Closing
- Serenity Prayer.
- The next NYCYPAA committee meeting will be on Sunday, February 15th @ 4:00pm.
