September 21st, 2008

Opening
-Opened with the Serenity Prayer.
-Reading of the Twelve Traditions.

-Minutes from 9/7/08 reviewed and accepted.

-Nothing to report
Events (Meg and Ally)
-Oct 3rd Dance at St. Andrew’s
-Some issues with them asking what we pay... Ally underestimated. Will talk about in Old business
-Wants to have another dance before Jan and possibly an ice cream Traditions party...

Outreach (Kristy absent, Gary)
-
Bid Book and By-Laws (Laura)
- We donated one bid book to the SENY Archives
- Last By-Laws meeting today, still some wording issues to deal with, will be sent out in emails.
Bid Facilities (Daniel)
-Has meeting with Brooklyn Marriott on Tuesday night (will report on it next meeting)

- Nothing to report.
- Forgot to add Kentucky YPAA, flyer,
SENY Liaison (Dustina absent)
-Went to SENY Area elections, Young people were elected into a position (Registrar)

-Carly made adjustments to the flyer (passed out during the meeting)
-talking about making adjustments to the flyer (making it one page so the map is more clear)

7th Tradition

Announcements
-Vacant Chair & Co-Chair positions.
-NYCYPAA Committee Inventory on October 12th from 4-6 PM
-NYCYPAA Elections on Sunday, November 2nd at 4 PM
-NYCYPAA Dance on October 3rd
-Outreach Trip to Bayside on Thursday, September 25th
-HVYPAA Softball Tournament
-LICYPAA is having an 80’s high school dance party
-Corrections and Treatment Facilities Convention kick-off meeting Saturday, Oct 4th at 12 Noon at Intergroup

New Business
-Fall Ball
-are we going to offer St Andrew’s church because we had a higher budget than Ally suspected.
-Because it’s only two weeks beforehand and we don’t have a lot of time to outreach, and it’s in a weird place that might cause a income loss on our part
-We might possibly tip depending on how much we’re earning and how well the space is working out
-Next events meeting is Saturday (one week)
-We usually get out of city speakers so we need to start calling ASAP
-Invite EACYPAA and NECYPAA to do an outreach table
-Possible cities to ask: Boston, HVYPAA, NECYPAA
-We kinda need to see the space... Josh might go.
-The Priest wants to meet with a couple of us to familiarize himself with our group
-Andrew and Laura will help outreach to cities for speakers

-Staten Island Share-A-Day, October 11th
-We’re going to do a table, possibly a meeting
-Gary can go
-Dustina will help coordinate people to go

-SENY Convention
-Laura was elected program chair. Wants to filtrate convention with young people.
-There is an open chair position: Alkathon Chair. Laura brought up NYCYPAA committee being in charge of Alkathon.
-Dustina, Ally, and Meg are willing to go to the NYS Convention planning meetings
-Darren suggested that it’s a little ridiculous to have a whole committee doing this.

-By-Laws Amendments
MOTION TO ACCEPT ALL BY-LAWS AMENDMENTS (PART II)--> Motion Carries

-Doctor’s Program
-Doctor at Bellevue was really excited about NYCYPAA and having a connection with young people in AA. Jason had an idea to create a 12-Step Committee... whenever contacted would bring a young person to their first meeting. Daniel outlined a document of what would need to be done.
-We could do our own small version of Bridging the Gap
-The idea is getting to people before they get to treatment and taking them to meetings.
-Futher discussion tabled to next meeting.

-Kristy has been asked to provide a phone list to a outpatient rehab.
-A hard copy of our plan of action should be made before doing anything.
-Some people want to just go ahead
-People should take another AA member to any meeting with a patient
-Kristy will keep us updated
