MINUTES
NYCYPAA Meeting
Sunday, October 19th, 2008
4:00pm – 6:00pm

I. Opening
- Opened with the Serenity Prayer.
- Reading of the Twelve Traditions.

II. Introductions / Roll Call
- Present: Josh, Kathleen, Daniel, Kristina, Laura, Andrew, Courtney, Meg, Jen, Alex, Dustina, Jason, Gary.
- Absent with notice: Darren, Sabrina, Ali, Cory.
- Absent without notice: Jared, Erin, Sam.

III. Committee Chair Reports
a. Secretary (Laura – proxy for Sabrina, Courtney)
- Minutes from 10/5/08 reviewed and accepted.
b. Treasurer (Kathleen)
- There is currently $2,761.43 in our bank account, and we have $130 cash-on-hand.
- Treasurer’s report accepted.
c. Co-Chair (Andrew)
- Nothing to report.
d. Events (Meg, Ali)
- Will discuss possible upcoming events in new business.
e. Outreach (Gary)
- Attended Staten Island Share-A-Day and the SENY Convention Planning meeting where he was elected as the Greeting Coordinator.
- Will begin outreaching NYCYPAA Elections.
f. Bid Book (Laura, Kristina)
- Nothing to report.
g. Bid Facilities (Daniel, Jared)
- Nothing to report.
h. Web (Cory)
- Absent: will update the website ASAP.
i. SENY Liaison (Dustina, Jen)
- Attended Staten Island Share-A-Day and the SENY Convention Planning meeting.
j. Inter-Group Liaison (Jason)
- Phone was successful this month.
- Needs volunteers for the Dr.’s Program.
k. Graphics (Erin)
- Absent: Elections flyer is available for distribution.
l. Literature (Darren, Alex)
- No submissions of YPAA stories yet, but will continue to ask for submissions.
m. Prayer (Sam)
- Absent.

IV. 7th Tradition

V. Announcements
- EACYPAA Dance: Saturday, October 25th – Long Island.
- Bayside Outreach Trip: Thursday, October 30th – Queens.
- NYCYPAA Elections + Karaoke: Sunday, November 2nd @ 4:00pm.
- Facilitator: John W.

VI. Old Business
a. 12th Step Project.
- Daniel presented the idea to a few people at SENY and Inter-Group, and received positive feedback.
- Creating our own phone-answering service may be stepping on Inter-Group’s toes.
- Perhaps Inter-Group will work with us if we make a proposal where a young alcoholic who calls Inter-Group can be put in contact with us.
- Having this information available on our website will help to inform people that we’re not an A.A. group, but that we can help put them in contact with A.A. groups.
- This project would need to be implemented in stages:
- Guidelines.
- Bylaws Amendment.
- 12th Step List.
- Form on website.
- Outreach through Inter-Group & Dr.’s Program.
- Motion to move forward with implementing the 12th Step Project  PASS.

b. Update NYCYPAA Bylaws.
c. - Tabled.

VII. New Business
a. Events.
- Traditions / Ice-cream Social.
- Motion to host event on December 6th at the Midnite space from 2:30pm-5:30pm  PASS.
- Dance.
- 2 possible locations with dates available: St. Anthony’s & Pompeii.
- St. Anthony’s might be a little cheaper, but we are more familiar with the staff and the procedures at Our Lady of Pompeii.
- Motion to host event on January 31st at Our Lady of Pompeii  PASS.
b. Letters to metro-area YPAA asking for participation in our ICYPAA bid and eventual host year.
- Motion to send letters to HVYPAA and LICYPAA after they have been circulated to the committee for wording and grammar corrections  PASS.
c. BCYPAA.
- 1st meeting on Sunday, October 26th.
- A few of us are planning to attend.
d. Group Inventory.
- Review of minutes.
- Altogether a good experience for the committee.

VIII. Closing
- Serenity Prayer.
- The next NYCYPAA committee meeting will be our annual Elections held on Sunday, November 2nd @ 4:00pm.
