E. Outreach (Catya)
-In terms of organization, people tend to tune out NYCYPAA announcements so we shouldn’t make so many… thinking of ways to better showcase what we do besides announcements
-Darren thinks we need to keep making announcements, especially to different groups
-The phrase “Young people” almost seems to have a stigma attached to it, no one cares if NYCYPAA hosts a dance, and we happen alienate a lot of older people because we say NYCYPAA
-We should personalize invitations to this committee more
-Having a newsletter, or a calendar on the website
-Can we support LICYPAA’s Bowling night?
-Two meetings in CT we can visit
-We can make up a list of meetings or people that are interested
F. Bid-Package (No one in the position)
G. Bid-Facilities (Daniel)
-Had a meeting ten days ago (as planned) divied up phone calls to make to various facilities, by the next meeting we will have news about any progress
-Billy N (At Nerassa) said that hotel prices wouldn’t be a huge issue, mentioned hotel split as well
H. Web (Cory)

-Didn’t get enough new-comer packets…
-Thinking about a young people’s book
-Contact for YPAA Video from South Carolina, SICYPAA is looking forward to possibly making a contribution
-SENY Archives Report: Laura tried to gather information, passed it around for review, plan to submit outline with our recommendation to the Archives Committee, if they decide to include a paragraph she will draft one
IV. Announcements.
- Vacant Chair and Co-Chair Positions
- VSCYPAA: June 20th-22nd
- LICYPAA: Bowling Night March 16th
- NYS Convention Planning Mtg: March 29th, 11 AM.
- Garden State Young People’s is having a camp out (date TBA)
V. Old-Business
A.YPAA Video: We have a few places to send videos to, are we at the point we can start sending it out? Darren thinks we are ready, will draft a cover letter for next meeting
-Places: Arms Acres, Josh’s Place, Corey’s place, we will look into other places email to Darren by next meeting
-Survey form?
B. ICYPAA:
-Laura: on the website they have a list of all cities that are going to bid, and NYC isn’t listed, someone needs to contact Advisory and the host committee to let them know that we are bidding
-We need a Bid-Package Chair.
VI. New Business:
A. Laura wants Bid-Book Chair position Laura elected.
B. YPAA Video Outreach: Daniel has a list of 800 people that notice of video submissions can be sent to Perhaps we should get GSO to send it out. It wouldn’t be good to make the wrong impression accidentally
-We can ask our delegate or PI Chair to work with us to spread the message
-How can we can help to connect YPAA groups throughout the country
-We can start writing letters to different people…
-Video guidelines are on aa.org there should be a link
C. Catya brought up the fact that she is having a difficult time doing outreach, is thinking about finding a substitute, she may step down
D. NERAASA: Was it worthwhile spending the money?
-It was fantastic, worthwhile, sense of comrade-ness
-We met a lot of people, especially young people from PA and CT involved in service, looking forward to Portland, ME next year
-Expenditure is more than worth the benefit, tends to be boring and waste of time to a lot of people, we weren’t acknowledged at all
-Young people grapevine book is not getting promoted throughout the country, In Our Own Words is not stocked at AA meetings, we could buy those books to make sure that they are in Young People’s Meetings. This book may or may not be at Intergroup
-MOTION: Darren makes a motion that the NYCYPAA Literature Chair provides two copies of the AA Grapevine book and 2 copies of the 2 young people’s pamphlets to the Young People’s Groups in the five boroughs:
(Each book is $7, so $15 per group, and there are about 8 groups) PASSES.
-We should think about developing an outreach packet of stuff when we visit other young people’s groups, and treatment centers??
E. Dance: Do we want throw a dance Friday April 11th? Maybe we should see if any Saturdays in June are available? Friday wasn’t the best day of the week to have a dance. Maybe we should do events both in April and June (Maybe we should do another type of event in April). $600 for a small-scale event may be too much.
-Two other ideas: Garden State people asked us to come to their camping trip? April 18-20.
Hardheads group in Queens, has formally asked NYCYPAA to make an appearance on March 29th
-MOTION: Book the space for April 11th with Our Lady of Pompeii ($200): PASSES.
VII. Closing.
A. Meeting Closed.
B. The next regular NYCYPAA meeting will be held on Sunday, March 16th, 2008 @ 4:00pm.
