NYCYPAA Meeting
12/02/07 4PM-6PM
I. Opening
A. Meeting opened with Serenity Prayer.
B. Fran read the Twelve Traditions.
II. Introductions and Roll Call:
A. Attendance.
- Present: Laura, Tiffany, Fran, Josh, Daniel, Sabrina, Jared, Darren, Catya, Erin, Tim, Janusz
- Absent with notice: Brian
- Absent without notice: Cory, Kristy
III. Reports:
A. Secretary (Brian absent - Sabrina Proxies)
- 11/18/07 minutes are read and accepted.
- PO Box key will be replaced.
B. Treasurer (Darren)
- Dance money still in cash ($2,070)
- Rent still hasn’t been paid
- No changes from last week
- $111.33 (Cash)
- $504.94 (Account)
- Rent check will be signed today
C. Co-Chair (Josh)
- Nothing to report.
D. Events (Daniel)
- Meeting this Thursday before Legal to discuss the next event
- Around Valentine’s Day? (making sure that no other events are going on.)
- Heartbreaker Karaoke/Dance (@ Our Lady of Pompeii.)
- We should put SOHO Flyer for New Year’s Dance on our website.
E. Outreach (Jared)
- Updated meeting outreach list.
F. Bid Package (Catya)
- SENY Assembly on Saturday: will give bid book to the Archives Chair.
G. Bid Facilities
- Daniel has been in touch with NYC&Co. ICYPAA is July 4th so we want to start getting ready in December for the hotel situation.
H. Web (Tim)
- Minutes are up.
I. SENY Liaison
- SENY Assembly this Saturday December 8th.
- NYCYPAA YPAA Video submission to be shown presented.
J. Intergroup (Tiffany)
- Phones is on Saturday the 8th - Fran will host.
K. Rikers (Sabrina)
- New information / procedures have been passed on to the chairs.
L. Graphics (Cory)
- Absent, business cards pending.
M. Literature (Erin)
- Nothing to report.
IV. Announcements
- Next big event is committee inventory, Sunday, December 9th @ 4:00.
- NYS Convention meeting January 5th, 2008 at 11am at SENY Office.
- Co-Chair Vacancies, plus Intergroup and Bid book chair.
- This Saturday the 8th is the SENY Assembly—we will be presenting the young people’s video, volunteers will be needed
- YES is having a Potluck on the 8th @ 5:30, followed by the meeting and a Game Night
V. Old Business
A. Video Submissions
- Video was submitted, but since not many submissions were received—deadline was extended.
- Irene asked us to write a letter which Darren drafted to revise in the meeting (Darren read the letter and we discussed it.)
Fran: MOTION to accept Darren’s Letter to be sent to GSO.
- Passed with one abstention.
- Darren needs to be voted the sole-signer.
- NYCYPAA Chair will sign contract (as stated in the by-laws)
- Permissions issue—Waivers need to be signed.
- Darren read his waiver.
- LENGTHY discussion about Anonymity concerns.
Josh: MOTION to table signing waiver until discussed further and/or edited.
- Passed with 3 abstentions.
MOTION to create final report about our experience doing the Young People’s Video.
- Passed with one opposed, two abstentions.
- Final report is to help GSO facilitate video submissions in the future.
B. Queens Business
- Have been asked to do a district presentation (Tues. Dec 18th) Who is going to go? Josh, Daniel, and Darren.
- Whitestone Group Visit: Proposed to go January 5th.
C. Manhattan Share-A-Day
- Manhattan Share-A-Day (February 17th) is in need of a Signs Chair. The position calls for just that, someone to put up signs throughout the day.
- Erin, Josh, Catya volunteered.
Catya: MOTION to volunteer to do signs as a committee.
- Passed with two abstentions.
D. NERAASA
- NERAASA is going on near ATLANTIC CITY during the last weekend of February, 2/22-2/24.
- $527 for the van and related expenses last year. Will be less money to go to Atlantic City.
- Drive back and forth? Avoid hotel expenses.
- Public Transportation?
- Definite advantages to having our own van and hotel room
- Catya: MOTION to get a van for NERASSA.
- Passed with one abstention
- Volunteer Daniel the van-wizard!
VI. New Business
A. NECYPAA
- We will be able to have a table… Who’s going? Three people?
- Tabled until next meeting.
B. Hudson Valley YPAA Meeting
- Fran went to Putnam County to attend a HVYPAA committee meeting.
- They want to create a Young People’s Hudson-Mohawk-Berkshire Convention.
- We can be of service by sharing our experience, and forming a relationship with them.
- 15 people attended the meeting.
- Modeled on CSCYPAA, more or less.
- Perhaps some of us should attend one of their meetings or do an event with them?
VII. Closing
- Meeting Closed.
- Committee Inventory next Sunday, December 9th, 2007 @ 4:00pm.
- The next regular NYCYPAA meeting will be held on Sunday, December 16th, 2007 @ 4:00pm.
