NYCYPAA Minutes
04/01/07: 4-6pm
I. Opened with the Serenity Prayer, 12 traditions
II. Introductions/Roll Call:
-Attendance: Josh, Daniel, Charlie, Viviana, Maurin, Janusz, Rakhel, Brian, Tim, Eric, Brook.
-Absent with notice: (late), Barrett, Erin, Laura, Kristy, Cory, Brandon, Tiffany.
-Absent without notice: Darren F.
III. Reports
A. Secretary
-Minutes from 03/18/07 meeting read and accepted.
B. YPAA Liaison
-Nothing to report.
C. Events
-Possible Spanish speaker lined up for Grapevine La Vina dance.
-We have a phone answering commitment on May 12th, so we need to move the La Vina event.
-Event meeting needs to be held to discuss this.
-Barrett has resigned.
D. Outreach
-We should be outreaching ICYPAA 49.
E. Bid Facilities
-New Orleans needs to get us the info from their convention.
-Alternate hotel options New Yorker and Manhattan Ballroom have been non-responsive.
-Metropolitan Pavillion at 19th street is a possibility.
F. Web Report
-All is up to date. Tim is getting re-acquainted.
G. SENY
-No report
H. Intergroup
-No report.
I. GRAPHICS
-Nothing to report.
J. Literature
-Nothing to report.
7th Tradition Break
IV. Outreach Break
-SENY CONVENTION March 29th-April 1st.
-Vacant Co-chair Positions.
-GSYP
-EACYPAA NYC folks have been asked to speak at convention.
-Outreach ICYPAA.
V. Old Business
A. Bank Letter
- Bank letter is signed by all chairs present. Missing Darren’s signature.
B. Brooklyn County Share-A-Day
- NYCYPAA will lead a panel, one at 1pm, one at 2pm.
- ICYPAA is wanted to lead panels, but we’re not sure what he wants, the bid or ICYPAA 49 (Probably Bid Committee).
- We will be outreaching B-S-A-D.
C. SENY Grapevine Meeting.
-This Saturday at 12:30.
-Daniel and Tim will be attending.
D. Video Project
- May/June is when guidelines will be sent out.
-Realistically, we won’t get guidelines until September/October.
- Do we want to do something locally to be showcased in local institutions?
- MOTION: Table discussion until Darren returns.
MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
VI. New Business
A. Bid Skit
- Catya, Cory and Janusz are working on “No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn” song, with delegates doing an intro about general service in New York in military garb.
- Powerpoint accompaniment.
- People running for a train and getting on. So a performed scene.
- NorthSide meeting has lots of creative folks, we should get out there.
- Sunday 4/15 7pm, Friday, 4/27
B. SENY Convention
- Delegates and trustees who traveled for 15 years said it was the best convention they’d been to.
- Amp up the committee activity to promote ICYPAA 50 bid.
C. BROOKLYN OUTREACH
- District 404 is a new district (Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bushwick)
- Cluster meeting to take place with other districts this Saturday. 25-20 meetings represented.
-They are all excited about NYCYPAA.
-Large-scale email list being put together to outreach Brooklyn related events.
-Event in Williamsburg, a lock-in or a dance. Charlie researching spaces.
-Calendar on our website of all events coming up?
-Using NYCYPAA to direct people to info for all the events in and out of the city.
-Bringing young people from Manhattan to Brooklyn to outreach NYCYPAA.
-Who is responsible for gathering information about events and posting them on the Internet?
-Submit Events button for people visiting the website to post event details.
-Brian and Tim will be researching a format for a NYCYPAA sober event calendar.
-Scan flyers that aren’t already present on the web and email them to Tim to be uploaded to the website.
VII. Closing
-Closed with the Serenity Prayer.
