Announcements
NYSIW was “absolutely awesome”; young people’s panel “rocked”
Phones were great last night
Still have vacant (co)chair positions
7th tradition
Motion never to use the word sack again
Janusz: it refers to testicle
[never seconded]
Schedule time for writing workshop
2nd hour of a NYCPAA meeting?
Meet at 2:00 on some Sunday?
Motion to meet at 2pm on sun10/15/06 for story-writing workshop
[seconded]
Motion passes—unanimous
Discussion of proposal to change bylaws as follows:
Approved Bylawas currently state:
V. Elections for committee positions
C. Elections for all committee positions will be held annually on the first Sunday in march, except for the bid package chair and co-chair, who will be elected on the first Sunday in Sept.
Proposed change (three possibilities) would read:
A)
Elections for all committee positions will be held annually on the first Sunday in oct. terms begin immediately.
B)
Elections for all committee positions will be held annually on the first Sunday in Nov. Terms begin on 1/1
C)
Elections for all committee positions will be held annually on the second regularly scheduled business meeting following ICYPAA.
[Bold added for clarity in change]
Third option is totally dependent on ICYPAA schedule, so terms would be 12 +/- 3 months
This will greatly alter the length of the current (or next) term, depending on how we address this issue
Viviana likes to stick to the rules, rather than making up new rules on the fly
[Motion to table discussion until next week; discussion tabled]
Scavenger Hunt
“The thing that happened was . . . nobody showed up”
Did the trivia part with those who showed
Discuss next week what worked in the past, why it didn’t work this time
Halloween Dance
Sat 10/28
Janusz spoke to Clean and Dry, who are having dance on sun 10/29
They were like, “We don’t really care what you do.” [on 10/28]
Darren doesn’t feel right about having party the night before theirs, even if they don’t care
Would the same crowd go to each of these parties?
People have to work on Mondays, so they may not want to go to a dance on Sunday
Laura: I’m personally going to both dances if they’re happening
Janusz: ... they are losing their space inevitably
Get other committees east of the Mississippi involved?
What’s wrong with Friday?
Jews get pissed because it’s the lord’s evening
[even at B&H online, you can’t make orders on Shabbat, you must wait until sunset . . . so says Januzs]
On securing YES space: All it takes is a phonecall
Lots of people right there because of the meeting
Viviana is building liaison for YES, will make some arrangements
On occupancy limits for the space:
Is the occupancy limit calculated for seating? Probably
Darren wants to handle it like a club—some people go out, some people go in
We will discuss this more next week
ALANON
They are having a dance and would like a speaker
We don’t want NYCPAA on the flier, but can provide a speaker
[motion to provide speaker for this thing]
Seconded; passed unanimously
Rakhel nominated for the job
Seconded
She won’t be there next week
Janusz nominated for backup
Seconded
Will we outreach the alanon dance?
NO, we should not outreach dance
[Motion to close]
Meeting closes with serenity prayer at 5:01pm
