E) Outreach

-Going well.

-Both chair and co-chair are absent, but Danielle called in and reported that the process of making a Young People’s meeting list is moving forward.

H) SENY Liaison

-SENY Convention Planning Meeting

-Numerous NYCYPAA members attended the kick-off convention-planning meeting and several people took positions. It was a wonderful demonstration of how serious NYCYPAA is about becoming active in General Service. The Convention will be held March 31- April 2nd in Tarrytown New York. Preliminary fliers are available.

-Assembly

-Erik and Megan (along with numerous other committee members) attended the SENY assembly yesterday. An inventory was held and several comments about Young People and their involvement in AA general service were made.

-Upcoming General Service Events

-Share-a-day Upper-Manhattan and Bronx: This Saturday from 9-5 at NY State Maritime College at Fort Skylar. There will be a young people’s panel and a showing of the conference approved young people’s video.

-Share-a-day Queens: October 15th. NYCYPAA has been invited to have a table at the next Queens Share-a-day. Possibly hosting a meeting was also mentioned. I will receive more information this week.

-This week Megan will be receiving fliers for these two Share-a- days. Anyone who would like to be emailed a copy can contact me at senyliaison@nycypaa.org

-Resignation

-Should NYCYPAA elect a bid-packet chair for ICYPAA, Megan will resign her position. She has full confidence that Erik will serve as a fantastic liaison to SENY. Although she will no longer have a position on the committee, she will still be available to be of service in any way that does not conflict with my position on the ICYPAA Advisory Council.

I) Intergroup Representative

-Attended an Intergroup Delegate’s meeting.

-Reported that the best way to get young people involved in the structure at Intergroup is through participation.

-Sentiment that bureaucracy may be standing in the way of carrying the message.

-NYCYPAA has outgoing speaking commitments.

-Janina will be contacted for further information.

J) Graphics

-The graphics co-chair does not feel that he can fill the graphics chair position, and suggested that we elect a new graphics chair.

IV. 7th Tradition: $13.00

V. Outreach Break

-Has a list of meetings he would like NYCYPAA members to attend and make outreach announcements.

-Some members agree to be outreach liaisons for individual meetings; others agree to find outreach liaisons at individual meetings.

-We will all report back at the next NYCYPAA committee meeting.

VI. Old Business

A) Cara has resigned from her position as Co-Treasurer.

B) Andrew has resigned from his position as Prayer Chair.

-Matt is now the Prayer chair and we now need to elect a new Prayer co-chair.

C) Vlad has resigned from his position as Co-Web chair.

D) Elections:

1) Bid-packet Chair

-Hodet volunteers and is accepted by acclamation.

2) Co-prayer chair, Co-web chair, Co-SENY liaison, Graphics chair, Co-treasurer, Co-bylaws, Co-Bid packet chair, and Intergroup Representative are all empty positions.

-Mandi volunteers through proxy to be Intergroup Representative.

-Michelle makes a motion that we accept Mandi by acclamation.

-During discussion it is brought up that Rakhel (the Intergroup Co-chair) may be interested in taking the Intergroup Representative position, and therefore she would have first priority.

VII. New Business

A) Jason (the by-laws chair) would like to have a Bylaws meeting next Sunday at 4pm at the VA hospital.

B) Janusz makes a motion that we accept our mission statement as it stands so that we can put it on our website, flyers, and in new-comer packets.

We, the members of New York City Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (NYCYPAA), have adopted A.A.’s primary purpose: to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. NYCYPAA is an A.A. committee comprised of A.A. members, directly responsible to the young alcoholics of the five boroughs of New York City. All alcoholics are welcome to participate. NYCYPAA’s practical goals are derived from A.A.’s three legacies. We strive to:

1. Support young alcoholics in their recovery through the 12 steps of A.A.

2. Promote unity among alcoholics of all ages.

3. Encourage young members of A.A. to participate in A.A.’s General Service Structure.

-VOTE: MOTION PASSES 11-0-1

C) Reminder that our service event with District 601 will be held on October 23rd.

VIII. Closing
