VII. New Business
A. Bridging the Gap for Young People.
-We want to reach out to institutionalized young people in New York City without stepping on Intergroup’s toes.
-Catya brings back information about a system that is being constructed to help those bridging the gap that we could possibly become involved in.
-An Intergroup staff member feels that separating ourselves as Young People would be weakening the system that is already in place. He feels it would be more beneficial to take on Institutions commitments at Intergroup rather than seeking special interest commitments.
-Daniel found two specific Young People’s treatments centers within the five boroughs where we may be able to do service.
-Rakhel suggests that we do service at Four Winds treatment center in Katonah, New York.
-Janusz suggests that we do some more research on this before making any decisions, and that we make sure that needs are met within our own jurisdiction before we expand outward.
B. Danielle suggests that a newsletter is created to contain all NYCYPAA information, including our mission statement, and upcoming events; something more concrete than fliers.
-Janusz suggests making it similar to a Young People’s version of The Grapevine, including a Young People’s meeting list.
-Shana suggests that the newsletter be available through the website rather than on paper.
C. Janusz makes a motion that the $20 allotment for fliers be doubled for this month due to the fact that NYCYPAA is having two events.
-MOTION PASSES: 6-0-3
D. Shana pitches the idea that NYCYPAA print out business cards with our meeting location and time, mission statement, and other necessary information.
-Graphics and outreach will work together to research pricing.
VIII. Closing
-Serenity Prayer
