- Bylaws -Nothing to report. There will be a Bylaws subcommittee meeting next Sunday, 8/28/05 at the VA hospital for revision.
- Events
-The LICYPAA/NYCYPAA Beach Day took place yesterday with some confusion as to whether or not it was canceled.
-October’s Pumpkin Picking Day is yet to be organized.
-September’s Coney Island Day must be moved to a different date: Coney Island will be closed from September 6th to the 10th. - Outreach
-There was an Outreach subcommittee meeting on 8/14/05
-Topic of discussion: Creating a communication network among the young alcoholics of the five boroughs.
-Low attendance possibly due to weather.
-Two models of outreach were discussed: A tree model and a spider web model.
-The tree model, currently in place, has the chair and sub-committee traveling out from central Manhattan location delivering information to outlying areas.
-The suggested spider web model will be a continuous process in which the outreach chair and co-chair travel to outlying areas, informing people about NYCYPAA events and activities, while finding people in that area to serve as members of the outreach committee. Once a person commits to this they would serve this area, also looking for AA members to outreach etc. If communication with an area dissolved, the chair and co-chair would go to these areas and repeat the above process.
-Discussion with Chair of Portland ICYPAA Bid and Host Committee:
Megan H. spoke about outreach in the ICYPAA committees stating she would often devote 10 or so minutes in the middle of the meeting to the outreach chair who would discuss how group members could contribute to outreach.
-Will come back the third Sunday of September to discuss further development of these ideas. - Web
