NYCPAA minutes May 22, 2005

In attendance: John, Austin, Cara, Janusz, Will, Michelle, Megan, Herb, Andrew and Janina

Opened meeting with a contest: Can you name the page this quote appears on "Young people may be encouraged by this mans experience..." Winner to be announced later!

John: Reviewed agenda and stated we did not have the minutes from last week because Darren, Daniel and Phil were at NERF.

Megan volunteered to take minutes on tiny pieces of paper.

Reports:
Treasurer: Cara
Last week we collected 12.50 in 7th tradition. Prior to that we had 117.00. 6.00 went towards our meeting space that leaves us with a grand total of 123.50!

Outreach: Janusz
Attended the New Generation meeting in Brooklyn. No a YP meeting per say but was started by young people 20 years ago who still attend! They would still like to remain listed as a YP meeting.
This coming Sunday outreach is heading to the Never Too Young meeting in the Bronx. The Following Tuesday we are scheduled to attend a 7pm meeting way-out-in-Brooklyn.

Made flyer for scavenger hunt. Wanted to make sure this time the process went more smoothly.
We LOVED the flyer.
Janusz suggested adding a more detailed address. After some hemming and hawing we decided on the wording for the address.
Austin will email revised flyer to everyone so that we can start outreaching the event!

Events: Will
June 10th Scavenger Hunt. June 17th rain date.
Asked for volunteers for the planning committee. Mentioned that Daniel and Pat had already volunteered to help plan the scavenger hunt.

SENY: Megan
Was sick, now better thanks to pharmaceuticals

InterGroup: Janina
Gave a shout out to Daniel and Cara for their love and support while she figured out her role on this crazy committee.
Made a list of areas where we can participate in Intergroup. We discussed getting a group together to do the monthly mail stuffing or getting a group together to answer phones on a set date each month.
Janina will be attending the big Intergroup meeting on June 11th starting at 7am and asked for someone to volunteer to join her. Both Megan and Cara volunteered.

Bylaws:
Janusz: By the end of the meeting we decided we wanted something substantial before we brought anything back to the committee.
Will: Just wanted to let everyone know that an attendance policy came up
Brief discussion
John: Reminded everyone that the purpose of the bylaws committee is so that this kind of discussion happens there and if anyone is interested they should attended the bylaws meeting.

New Business:
NO MEETING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

John regretfully must step down due to new developments in his personal life, however Daniel is going to be a fantastic Chair!

Herb brought a fantastic question: Should someone like me, who just wants to be of service, attend these meetings or are they just for committee chairs.

We all said: "YES WE NEED YOU AND WANT YOU HERE" (hopefully he will come back!)
Megan brought up the idea of a new member packet and volunteered to bring a sample to the next committee meeting.
