The entrance to the Veteran's Hospital is on 23rd Street just east of 1st Ave. on the north side of the block, at the top of the circular driveway. There is some metered parking across the street and in the surrounding area, and there's a parking garage on 23rd between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.

Since there's no East Side subway, the most direct way to get to the VA Hospital is by bus.

From the East Villge, Lower East Side or Upper East Side, the M15 bus runs up 1st Ave. and down 2nd Ave. On the northbound route, it stops around the corner from the hospital on 1st. Better yet, the M15 Limited stops only at major cross streets, including 23rd, and on weekends, when many of our events happen here and traffic is light, it can be as quick as a cab.

From Chelsea, or making a connection from the West Side, the M23 runs along 23rd St. and stops across the street from the hospital. The M16 starts at Port Authority, goes down 9th Ave., across on 34th St., down 2nd Ave. onto 23rd, and also stops across the street.

If you're coming from the extreme East Village or Lower East Side, or Soho or the lower West Village or Village, the M21 runs along Houston St., then Avenue C, and turns on 23rd St.

The closest subway stops are the 6 train at 23rd and Park, the N/R at 23rd and Broadway and the L at 14th and 1st., which are each about a 1/2-mile walk away. Or you can take any north/south subway line that has a 23rd St. stop and take the M23 bus across.
